Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student defines the basic concepts of foods for particular nutritional uses. Student knows the human body's need for nutrients, vitamins and minerals in live cycle, knows consequences of their deficiency and excess level in the body. Student characterizes the different groups of foods for particular nutritional uses. Student can discuss advantages and disadvantages of their use. Student has knowledge about legislation of these products. Student knows the procedure for the marketing, labeling and their withdrawal from the market. Skills: Student is able to assess the intake of macronutrients, vitamins and minerals for different population groups. Student is able to use in a proper way the foodstuffs for particular nutritional uses. Students can discuss needs of its entering to the market.

Competences: Students is interested in the functioning of the human body, the need for vitamins and minerals, their role in the body, and the effects of over-and under-consumption.

Prerequisites: Food Chemistry

Course content: Types, rules of use, mechanisms of action, indications and contraindications, side effects of foods for particular nutritional uses, the procedures of marketing, labeling and withdrawal from the market.
