The course in English will be available if a minimum of 6 students sign up for a group. If less than 6 students sign up for the group, the course will be available in Polish with the possibility of individual support in English.

Learning outcomes: Student after completing the course should know the basic groups of grasses and herbaceous plants, be able to determine their basic structural features, plastic values, applicability and environmental requirements. He should practically use the acquired knowledge in specific spatial arrangements. He should know the basic relations of the world of animals and plants.

Competences:

Prerequisites: Preceding subjects: botany.

Course content: Natural importance of the inveterate land - flower meadows, plant communities and other important groups. Biocenotic importance (animals). Division of grass depending on site conditions and the economic significance. Flower bed grasses for parks and gardens. Status of lawns in Poland. The types of lawns, species and varieties of plants used to lawn setup. Setup of lawns and recreation meadows, construction technology, special types of turf. Lawn care (fertilization, watering, mowing, aerating). Renovation of lawns. Production of turf. Overview of the most important herbaceous plants. Principles of design of the plant compositions in the garden setups. Principles of care. Sports facilities - golf course design principles. Criteria for selection of herbaceous plants for different garden setups. Design principles of the plant compositions in the garden setups and urban green areas. Herbaceous plants in the useful gardens. Principles of the setup and maintenance of herbal gardens.
