Learning outcomes: Student will be able to make the appropriate and ecologically informed decisions concerning plant protection actions of any kind. Student also will be able properly choose methods of plant protection and in the case of chemical method choose proper pesticide and its rate.
Competences: Individually taking decision concerning plant protection methods and pesticides to reduce number of pests and plant diseases below the economic damage thresholds.
Prerequisites: Chemistry, Entomology and Plant Pathology, Essential knowledge on farming systems
Course content: The core topics of the subject contain primarily the practical aspects of selection and application of the chemical pesticides. During the lecture, the chemical plant protection is covered in more detail, including, among other issues, the mode of action of particular pesticide groups. The lecture also covers non-chemical methods used in plant protection, pointing at and emphasizing the possibilities of integrating them with the chemical protection into one, coherent system.
