Learning outcomes: Students learn about the basics of fundamental and technical analysis. Participation in the course will enable the interpretation and significance for the companies’ valuation of various financial and non-financial information. Students will be able to identify market trends and price formations that appear on the stock markets, as well as learn to use certain computer programs useful in technical analysis.

Competences: Completion of the course helps in the effective management of private enterprises and facilitate the assessment of their real values. Moreover, the information gained will assist in managing cash at the capital market, particularly in the valuation of shares and determining the moment of their sale or purchase.

Prerequisites: microeconomics, macroeconomics, market analisis

Course content: The fundamental analysis - the basic information. Using fundamental analysis of business practice. Sources and methods of obtaining information useful in the fundamental analysis. Analysis and interpretation of macroeconomic and sector factors influencing the development of food economy and companies operating in its environment. Financial analysis as part of fundamental analysis. The importance of non-financial factors in the assessment of company value. Technical analysis - basic concepts. Computer programs in technical analysis. Application of elements of technical analysis to make investment decisions based on examples from the field of agribusiness companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The determination and interpretation of trends. Determination of the formation of trends and their interpretation. Determination and interpretation of basic technical analysis indicators and the construction of candlestick charts. Practical combination of fundamental and technical analysis to assess the value of agri-business enterprises.
