Learning outcomes: Knowledge The student has general knowledge about hydraulic structures types, pumps and water turbines; knows the general principles of pumping station and hydroelectric power exploitation; has knowledge of the necessary documentation, refer to the pumping station and hydroelectric power exploitation; knows devices and measurement and control systems in modern pumping and water turbines solutions; has knowledge in conducting of pumping station and hydroelectric power renovations and repairing; knows the basics economic calculation of pumping station and hydroelectric power exploitation. Skills Student is able to characterize pumps used in hydraulic engineering and water turbines; knows how to make water's management instructions for pumping station/small hydro power; is able to characterize operating rules for pumping stations/SHP; knows how to design a system to control pumping station work/SHP; is able to make a program for controlling the pumping station work/SHP; is able to determine rules concerning to renovations and repairs pumping stations/SHP; knows how to estimate the cost of pumping station exploitation/SHP.

Competences: Student is aware of the pumping station work/SHP impact on the environment; understands the need and can deliver to society knowledge and information refer to the proper exploitation pumping stations/SHP.

Prerequisites: meteorology and hydrology, hydrotechnical construction, pumping stations, hydroelectric power

Course content: Classification of hydraulic structures. The use of pumps and turbines in water engineering. Pumping station and hydroelectric power types. Pumps and turbines producers in Poland and around the world. Pumping station and hydroelectric power exploitation rules. Documentation in the operation of pumping stations and hydroelectric power. Pump units and water turbines work supervising. Pump units and water turbines maintenance work. Special equipment exploitation in pumping station and hydroelectric power. Pumps and turbines researches in recessed place. Work safety in pump station and hydroelectric power. Pumping station and hydroelectric power service and maintenance. Control - measuring systems and devices which are essential during observations the work of pumping stations and hydroelectric power. Pump units and water turbines technical fuel. The impact of work pumping stations and hydroelectric power on the environment. The principles and guidelines of conducting pumping stations and hydroelectric power renovations repairs and reconstruction. Maintaining state of technical pumping stations and hydroelectric power in conditions of normal exploitation. Economic analysis of exploitation pumping stations and hydroelectric power. Issuing criteria of projects opinions on the exploitation pumping stations and hydroelectric power.
