Lecturer: dr Romuald Żyłka
Language of instruction: Polish

Learning outcomes: Knowledge : the Student has general theoretical and practical knowledge on phenomena and physical processes occurring in Nature. Knows the methods to determinate, calculate and measure physical quantities. Understands and explains the functioning of the measuring instruments based on the laws of physics. Associates and describes the application of physical knowledge in engineering, technology and practice. Skills: the Student acquires the ability to perform basic calculations. He can convert physical quantities expressed in units outside the SI system. Has the ability to find, select and use different calculation and experimental methods. He can analyze the results obtained and draw conclusions from them. Knows how to present the results of measurements and calculations graphically, together with uncertainties.

Competences: the Student shows understanding of physical phenomena occurring in Nature and everyday life. Organizes and carries out measurements and calculations as a team work. Can take responsibility for correctness of the calculations performed. Appreciates the need for self-development and the need for further training.

Prerequisites: Mathematics.

Course content: A knowledge of physics, including classical mechanics (description of motion of the mass point and mass center, rotation of rigid bodies, and a description of vibrating systems), gravity, structure of matter and its properties, heat and mass transport processes, flow of liquids, wave motion, thermodynamics, electric current issues, wave optics, atomic and nuclear physics.
