Learning outcomes: Learning outcomes: After completing the course, the students will know the basic level microeconomic problems associated with the production, division, exchange and consumption as well as they will have a basic knowledge of the allocation mechanism in the commodity-money economy which is the market. They will also know the macroeconomic issues: GDP, inflation, unemployment, fiscal and monetary policy. Skills: Students can use theoretical knowledge of micro- and macroeconomics in practice. They understand the functioning of the market rules (price and volume of demand and supply), production costs and profits. They are able to indicate the instrument of fiscal and monetary policy as well as the role of these policies for economic growth.

Competences: Students can understand and appreciate the use of economic knowledge in the analysis of the phenomena of social and economic life.

Prerequisites: Mathematics with elements of statistics and information science.

Course content: Economics as science. Market and division of markets. Mechanism of the market economy. Forms of the market and competition systems. Demand and supply. Market balance. Flexibility of demand (price, income and mixed flexibility). Flexibility of supply. Analysis of the costs of production. Benefits from the economic activities. The essence and types of securities. Market of securities. The problem of evaluating the financial results of the national economy. The problems of unemployment, inflation and fiscal policy. The essence and functions of money. The organization and functioning of banks.
