Learning outcomes: Knowledge Student knows the basic environmental conditions of occurrence of soils erosion processes; knows the basic terminology of erosion; familiar with the basic classification of erosion phenomena ; understands the importance of protecting of soils against erosion; knows anti-erosion treatments necessary for the different physiographic conditions; knows role of forests in protecting the soil environment. Skills Student can identify types of soil erosion in different physiographic conditions; is able to guess the appropriate classification criteria for assessing the intensity of erosion process ; can analyse the hazards of erosion; can classify area of degree of soils erosion risk; is able to determine the need for anti-erosion treatments; is able to select appropriate to degree of risk anti-erosion treatments.

Competences: Shows understanding of the importance to human of soil protection against degrading phenomena.

Prerequisites: meteorology hydrology, physics and chemistry of soils

Course content: The basic concepts of soil erosion, a variety of soil erosion, factors of intensity of soil erosion, risks recognition methods, the need for anti-erosion treatments, anti-erosion treatments. at lowland areas and a varied terrain, directions and ways of developing gorges, risks and methods of prevent subsurface phenomena of erosion, erosion risks in construction work of water supply and melioration, modelling erosion processes,, ecology of forest , habitat types of forests, forest microclimate, drainage systems in forest areas.
