Learning outcomes: Knowledge: The student knows the plant and animal organisms at the level of cells and tissues, knows the basic differences in the morphology of different taxonomic groups. He knows the basic division of the living animal and plant organisms, has the knowledge necessary to describe the relationships between organisms, known mechanisms shaping populations. Skills: The student recognizes the most widespread species of wild plants, crops and animals and is able to determine their habitat requirements. Assesses the risks to the environment associated with agricultural production.

Competences: Personal and competences: Student is able to make responsible business decisions on the state of the natural environment. He knows the importance of the principles of balanced development. He is able to work individually and in teams, taking on various roles.

Course content: Cytology, histology and anatomy of plants. Reproduction of the plant. Structure and modification of organs plant. Taxonomy and characterization of spore plants. Morphological characteristics and useful of selected botanical families. General characteristics of invertebrates and vertebrates. Principles of their classification, taxonomy and phylogeny. Structure and life function. Adaptation to the occupied habitats. Life cycles. A systematic review of multicellular animals (Animalia). Classification and identification of most important herbivores as potential pests. Morphology, anatomy, biology of insects, arachnids, gastropods, nematodes, birds, mammals including rodents. Principles for plant and animal ecology.
