Learning outcomes: Students know structure, function and metabolic processes of proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, sugars with participation of appropriate enzymes and know the enzymes kinetics and energetic processes in biochemistry.

Competences: Students are able to work in teams, adapt appropriate method to biological substances measurement, know how to study enzymes activity and properties. They can perform qualitative and quantitative analyses of substances and make the proper calculations. Students know how to use laboratory equipment.

Prerequisites: Inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry

Course content: Structure, function and metabolism of biologically important molecules (amino acids, proteins, sugar, fatty acids) characteristic, mechanism and kinetics of enzyme action, coenzymes and vitamins soluble in fats; catabolic and anabolic processes; biosynthesis, structure and function of nucleic acids, location and regulation of metabolism and digestive processes in human; regulation and integration of cell metabolism.
