Learning outcomes: Knowledge A student has a theoretical knowledge about assumptions, objectives, principles and instruments of ecological politics in Poland and UE. A student is also acquainted with legal regulations used in ecological politics which regulate competences, obligations and responsibility of entities in respect of environmental protection A student also has knowledge about consequences of political and economic decisions indirectly related to environmental protection Skills A student knows how to make use of appropriate instruments in particular environmental situations as well as to evaluate their effectiveness in respect of assumptions and objectives of the state’s ecological politics A student is also acquainted with assessment methods of the economic value of the environment which determines the scale of investment needs related to environmental protection A student also has ability to characterize contracts and concessions as two main instruments used in exploitation of resources, in particular non-renewable ones
Competences: Social competences A student has understanding of issues related to the functioning of the environment as well as is aware of the necessity to take decisions preventing from irrational economy of resources or environmental pollution
Prerequisites: Basics of economics or microeconomics
Course content: Strategic problems of environmental protection in Poland. Ecological Politics of the State I and II. Administrative and market instruments in ecological politics. Division of competences and responsibilities in environmental protection. Quality assessment of the environment as a basis of the range of financing of environmental protection. Internalization of external effects and the optimal quality of the environment.
