Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student knows the methods of solving engineering problems in the field of food science and nutrition; understands the engineering nature of the diploma assignment; understands concepts relevant to solving engineering problems in the field of food technology; knows how to prepare and perform a presentation; has basic knowledge of new technologies and techniques. Skills: Student can formulate the aim of the assignment and determine the necessary means for its achievement; can find relevant data to solve the problem which is the subject of the assignment; can prepare a presentation based on the material obtained from various sources and perform the presentation on the subject of the assignment in front of an audience; can take part in debates on how to solve problems in the field of food technology and human nutrition.

Competences: Social skills (Attitudes): Student is aware of the progress in food and human nutrition technology and techniques; can assess preparation and presentation of issues related to the topics of other students’ diploma assignments; takes active part in discussions.

Prerequisites: General food technology, bio-processing, industrial bio-technology.

Course content: associated with the problems relevant to the topics of the students’ diploma assignments.

Recommended literature: relevant Polish and foreign-language professional journals, ISO standard, PN (the Polish Norm standard), technical specification of relevant appliances.

Assessment methods: Preparation and presentation of topics related to the development of the diploma assignment, active participation in the discussions.
