Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student - W01 - student defines the basic concepts in biochemistry W02 - student recognizes the basic biomolecules associated with the relevant metabolic pathways W03 - student explains the relationships between major metabolic pathways and ways toregulate them Skills: Student - U01 - student combines the basic biomolecules with the relevant metabolic pathways U02 - student examines therelationships between the major biochemical pathways U03 - student usesbasic biochemistry laboratory techniques

Competences: Personal and social competences (attitudes and behaviors): K01 - student has entrusted the responsibility for laboratory equipment K02 - student is aware of theimportance of compliance with safety rules in a biochemical laboratory

Prerequisites: Organic chemistry

Course content: Basic chemical constituents of living organisms, obtaining andstoring of metabolic energy,metabolism of carbohydrates, fatty acids and amino acids,regulation ofbasic metabolic pathways.

Assessment methods: 3 written tests, ongoing assessment of learning progress on the basis of short written works, activity on the exercises and exercise report. Passing grades of laboratory course and written exam
