Learning outcomes: One knows conditions and driving forces of sustainable development in rural areas. Student knows the principles of land development and spatial planning of rural areas. One knows the principles of technical infrastructure locating and designing. One is able to provide spatial–landscape-environmental evaluation in specific settlement unit. Is able to design planning scenarios and variants and to carry environmental impact assessment out. One is able to calculate the water and energy demands for new land developments. Is able to design the sewage management plan.
Competences: One can cooperate, within group of interest, for decision making and spatial conflicts resolutions. One’s aware of social, economic and environmental impacts of planning decisions and infrastructural projects.

Course content: Spatial planning in management of rural areas development. Circumstances and problems of economic development. Strategy of agriculture and rural areas sustainable development. Technical infrastructure in rural areas. Feasibility study. Environmental impact assessment. Definitions, characteristics and functions of infrastructure. The principles of technical infrastructure locating. Administrative procedures. Water supply system. Sewage collection and disposal system. Heating, gas and electrical energy systems. Development and exploitation. Spatial conflicts. Case studies.
