Learning outcomes: Knowledge: student knows the basics of geology; recognizes the basic minerals and rocks; has a basic knowledge of: the origin of minerals and rocks which are the building ground and building materials; Skills: understands the geological processes that formed the Earth's surface and which have an impact on its properties.

Competences: Students can pre-assess the conditions of foundation subject in the area, using the information contained in the geological documentation, thematic maps and geological cross-sections.

Prerequisites:

Course content: Fundamentals of dynamic geology. Structure of the Earth. Endogenous, exogenous and anthropogenic processes. Fundamentals of historical geology. Geological structures of Poland. Rocks the Earth's crust as the base of constructions (building ground). Structure and physic-chemical properties of clay minerals. Basics of hydrogeology. Conditions of groundwater occurrence and groundwater classification. Physical and chemical properties of groundwater. Geological maps. Engineering geological characteristics of the land. Elements of the geological law.

Assessment methods: Exercises are classified on the basis of a positive test and reports of activities; lectures on the basis of the test after the second semester. Minimum knowledge to complete the course - 60% of test points.
