Learning outcomes: Student at the course completion, developed fundamental understanding of marine, air and land navigation, knows navigation methods and techniques. Knows local and global satellite systems. Understands the incertial navigation principle and its integration with GNSS observations. Knows basic linear Kalman filter in navigation applications.

Competences: Skills: Student knows how to lock his/her position, velocity and bearing on the Earth’s Surface using satellite observations, maps and marine navigation instruments, mobile applications. Knows how to integrate inertial and GNSS observations. Knows how to plan, conduct and adjust mobile GNSS/INS platform. Social skills: Understands the importance of navigation in everyday life, marine, air and land navigations, knows threats and opportunities of collecting and using of user’s location in big data concepts.

Prerequisites: Geodesy, satellite geodesy, GIS

Course content: Foundation of marine navigation. History of navigation and basic measurements. Global navigation satellite systems GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, absolute and relative positioning. Terrestial radionavigation. Introduction to Kalman filtering. Inertial navigation systems. GNSS/INS integration
