Learning outcomes: Knowledge: The student knows the basic concepts, definitions and legal acts in the field of construction law; knows the basic principles for the designing of buildings; understands the role and tasks of the basic elements of the building including structural elements; knows the characteristics of the most commonly used: ceilings, exterior and interior walls, and stairs; knows the general characteristics of finishing works (plastering, flooring, painting and facing). Abilities: The student is able to make a critical analysis of the role and tasks of the basic structural and non-structural building elements; can develop the concept of a building with the proper functional-spatial and structural system as well as with the right selection of thermal, damp and sound insulation.

Competences: The student understands the retaining of the optimal thermal-damp conditions of buildings, leading to energy savings, including reduction of carbon emissions harmful to human environment.
