Learning outcomes: Knowledge: W1 – A student has knowledge of advanced data analysis methods for continuously distributed data [BI2_W01]; W2 – A student knows how to use selected statistical packages for advanced data analyses [BI2_W03]; Skills: U1 – A student works in a variety of operating systems environments [BI2_U01]; U2 – A student develops computer programmes [BI2_U02]; U3 – A student has the ability to analyze the continuously distributed data including the construction of models, parameter estimation and hypothesis testing in the context of probabilistic theory [BI2_U03]; U4 – A student performs research tasks in the field of bioinformatics independently and as part of group work [BI2_U05]; U5 – A student demonstrates the ability to perform inference on the basis of complex models and hypotheses [BI2_U06]; Personal and social competences (attitudes and behaviours): K1 – regularly update the knowledge of exploring biological data using bioinformatics tools [BI2_K07]

Competences:

Prerequisites: statistical packages, statistical modeling of data

Course content: the use of statistical packages, survival analysis, repeated data

Recommended literature: Recommended literature: 4. Therneau T. M., Grambsch P. M.: Modelling Survival Data – Extending the Cox Model. Springer 2000. 5. Kleinbaum D.G., Klein M.: Survival Analysis – A Self-Learning Text. Springer 2011. 6. Klein J. P., Moeschberger M. L.: Survival Analysis – Techniques for Censored and Truncated Data. Springer 2003.

Assessment methods: Assessment of tutorials: Based on the average grade calculated from three written tests The final grade can be enhanced by student’s active participation in tutorials. The presence at tutorials is compulsory. The student may have one unauthorized absence. Completion of the course: students with a valid credit for a tutorial undergo a theoretical exam (4 questions) using in the examination session. The examination lasts up to 90 minutes. During the exam the student has no right to use lecture notes and cannot communicate with other students. If the exam is not passed, a student has the right to retry it.
