Learning outcomes: After completing the course , students possess general knowledge about yield losses caused by agrophages, know economic – organizational traits of different methods of plant protection, they are familiar with expenditure on plant protection, know the methods of determining costs and of economic efficiency of protective treatments. Student can interpret economic phenomena , is able to appropriately use norms and systems of work organization, can estimate balance of losses and gains resulting from application of pesticides. Students are able to realize the plan of tangible work in plant protection

Competences: Students possess competences allowing to broaden their knowledge , are able to combine it with knowledge on other subjects and use it in practice . Students are aware of their professional ethics.

Prerequisites: Ekonomiics, Plant nutrition, Pedology, cultivation of plants and agrostology, plant protection, phyto- pathology, Enthomology, Technology of plant protection.

Course content: Detailed features of agriculture as the sector of national economy, factors of production, nature and economic originconditioning plant production. Losses caused by agrophages , expenditure on plant protection, calculation and valuation, economic efficiency.. Infrastructure of plant protection.

Assessment methods: Knowledge Acquiring credit on the basis of tests results and elaboration of the project of tangible workin a farm regarding plant protection. Written examination: Competences: Students can determine balance of losses and gains resulting from application of pesticides, they can estimate costs and economic efficiency of introduced plant protection treatments. Social competences: assessment of appropriate choice of information, compliance with copyrights
