Learning outcomes: student knows the main native tree and shrub species, their morphological characters and ecological requirements, he knows the most common forest communities and their distribution in the country, he knows the protected tree species and kinds of threat for forest vegetation.

Competences: student is aware of the necessity of continuous learning and self-improving in the domain of plants and environment conservation; is ready to both individual and team work and is aware of the responsibility for results of co-operation.

Prerequisites: Botany

Course content: Characteristics of morphological life forms of trees and shrubs. Morphological description of native tree and shrub species (selected genera and species). Ecology, biology and distribution of the species selected. Rare and law protected species. Taxa of the specific habitats. Selected tree and shrub communities occurring in Poland. Threats and conservation of the tree and shrub communities.

Assessment methods: Knowledge: written tests during the practices. Collection of tree leaves and shoots. Skills: Estimation of the partial tasks realization, oral presentation and written analysis of the results. Social competencies: Estimation of the information selection as well as writer laws respect. Estimation of the work with team.

Comment: Practices are realized outdoor in part, and then students gather materials for the further work in lab.
