Learning outcomes: Knowledge Student: W1 - knows taxonomy and general characteristic of particular parasite taxons (Protista, Helminths and Arthropods) and biology of human parasites [BC1_W06, BC1_W08, BC1_W12]; W2 - has general knowledge on methods used in parasite diagnostics [BC1_W18]; W3 - knows basic terms related to travel medicine and prevention of parasitic diseases [BC1_W14, BC1_W15]; Skills Student: U1 - smoothly operates laboratory equipment and safely works with contagious material [BC1_U02, BC1_U12]; U2 - knows basic techniques of worm’s cultivation and microscopy [BC1_U12]; U3 - determines main taxons and forms of human parasites [BC1_U10];

Competences: Personal and social competences (attitudes) Student: K1 - is aware of the principles of operation of the parasite-host systems in the environment and the resulting risks to human health [BC1_K06]; K2- has the responsibility for task carried out in the group [BC1_K02]; K3 - displays the responsibility for entrusted equipment [BC1_K08];

Prerequisites:

Course content: Taxonomy of parasites (Protista, Platyhelminthes, Nematoda, Arthropoda); laboratory techniques used in parasite diagnostics; prevention of parasitic diseases;
