Learning outcomes: Knowledge Student: W1 – knowscivilization diseases and their epidemiology and risk factors [BC1_W19, BC1_W21]; W2 - knows the methods to identify hazards of the civilization diseases [BC1_W18, BC1_W19]; W3 – knows the rules of the prevention of the civilization diseases risk and understands the necessity of implementing this prevention at every stage of human life [BC1_W21] Skills Student: U1 - using simple measures of health status recognize the threats of civilization diseases and assess the risk of its occurrence [BC1_U11; BC1_U12]; U2 – can to take action to promote healthy lifestyle, especially those elements that influence on reduction of the risk of the civilization diseases [BC1_U04, BC1_U11]; U3 - uses various of databases to acquire knowledge about the threats of increasing the risk of developing of civilization diseases [BC1_U05].

Competences: Personal and social competences (attitudes) Student: K1 - in cooperation with a group is taking action related with realization of research task [BC1_K02, BC1_K03, BC1_K06];

Course content: Students will gain knowledge about the civilization diseases, occurring and spreading of these diseases, as well as about the factors constituting risk of developing civilization diseases. In addition, they will gain the ability to assess the risk of civilization diseases using simple biological indicators.

Assessment methods: Final test 30 questions with 60% credit. The final gradeis the arithmetic mean of lectures and exercises. Practicals assesment: Assessment of based on tests (2 tests). Assessment of elaborating and presenting of a multimedia presentation about civilization diseases (epidemiology of these diseases, prevention, risk factors, etc.). During the course will be assessed the participation and involvement while accomplish tasks (based on observation and work sheet). Attendance at exercises is compulsory; a student can have only one unjustified absence. Passing classes based on grade point average.
