Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Students know the most important links between various environmental issues, environmental protection the other fields of knowledge. They recognize and describe the basic relationships between the elements of the environment - the lithosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere and biosphere. They list and outline the major threats to the environment on a global and local scales, recognize the mechanisms of these threats and the resulting problems, describe the general principles for solving these problems. They know historical aspects of the development of environmental protection and the most important current events related to environmental protection Skills: Students identify the most important threats to the environment caused by human activity and are able to analyze the links between the processes occurring in the environment and the adverse effects of human activities. They identify the most important solutions to improve the quality of the environment. They are able to participate in discussion on the basic issues of environmental protection, using the proper terminology and using correct ways of arguing. They can make a critical assessment of the most important environmental problems.

Competences: Personal and social competences: Students exhibit sensitivity to environmental issues on the local and global scales, are aware of the importance of these issues in the contemporary world. He uses rational arguments in favor of environmental protection.

Prerequisites: Basic knowledge from secondary school.

Course content: Fundamental terms in environmental protection. Pro-ecological thinking in the history of civilization. Sustainable development. Global and local problems of climate, air, water, lithosphere and biosphere. Natural resources. The rules of waste and wastewater management. Links between agriculture and environment.
