Learning outcomes: Knowledge Student: W1 - knows the basic physiological processes of the cells and the functioning of the tissues and organs of plants and animals [KB_W07]; W2 - distinguishes the taxa of plants relevant to the human [KB_W12]. Skills Student: U1 - applies the appropriate information technologies in the development of graphical data, and in acquiring and processing of the information. He or she creates the multimedia presentations [KB_U04]; U2 - learns independently in a targeted manner [KB_U14]; U3 -uses all available sources of information, including electronic, to learn, prepare speeches, and problem presentations [KB_U17]; U4 - has the ability to prepare reports, lectures and other presentations and speeches on specific issues related to plant species important to man [KB_U18].
Competences: Personal and social competences (attitudes) Student: K1 - is aware of the effects of group work and able to interact and work in a group, playing a variety of roles in it [KB_K02]; K2 - becomes sensitive to the nature as a set of cognitive, aesthetic, educational, economic and touristic values, and is aware of the importance of environmental biodiversity [KB_K04].
Prerequisites: Plant Morphology
Course content: Knowledge of the most important plants from the viewpoint of human use and their properties. The study of the recipes that use the properties of selected plant species. Basic principles of cultivation of selected species important for man.

Assessment methods: Students who passed the exercise must write the test connected with the lecture (open-ended questions and to be chosen). The test lasts approx. 40 min. If the test is not passed in the first term, the student is entitled to re-attempt to pass it in writing in the second period. The work in the classroom is assessed, e.g., the preparation and referencing on selected issues connected with the plants important to man, their relevance and also a participation in group discussions, etc. Attendance at the exercises is mandatory, and no more than one exercise can be left. Completion of exercises is based on all grades obtained.
