Learning outcomes: Students acquire skills in using methods of biotechnology and especially understand the structure of the genome, structural and functional genomics. He can use the PCR technique and understands the benefits of their use to accelerate and facilitate the selection process. Student closer acquainted with the study of DNA polymorphism (molecular markers) and understands the need for their use in mapping and identifying genes. He understands how to get GM crops and horticultural importance for practice.

Competences: Application of biotechnology methods in plant breeding. Using practical gardening genetically modified crops, to know how they receive and recognition.

Prerequisites: Botany, genetics and plant breeding, biochemistry

Course content: As part of the course students will be presented to advances in plant biotechnology, with particular emphasis on the benefits of mapping methods and knowledge of plant genomes. Further knowledge of the different techniques used in genomics and underline the benefits of research on the polymorphism of DNA (molecular markers) and their applications. Using in practice gardening genetically modified plants, methods their preparation and identification.
