Learning outcomes: After course completion, student can estimate properly the safety of the construction and is able to bring this knowledge into practice; projecting the safe elements of machines such as couplings and mechanical transmissions (belt, frictional, chain and toothed). Student knows the principles of the production technology of machine units including the rules of the safety as well as the opinion of the safety degree for existing production processes of machines.

Competences: After course completion, student is able to draw and understand the constructional drawings as well as can construct the basic elements of machines including the aspects of the safety of the construction and exploitation.

Prerequisites: Engineering drawing and descriptive geometry, mechanic and strength of materials, science about materials

Course content: The reliability and safety of construction, strength calculations of elements of machines, forced-in joint, design of axes and shafts, tolerances and fits, rolling bearings and slide bearing, the belt gear, chain gear, friction gear, toothed gear, rigid and asynchronous coupling, mechanical transmissions, the toothed cylindrical gear and bevel with teeth of straight lines and helical, the trybology, principle of exploitation of machines, design of the technological processes of construction of machines.
