Hours (Lectures / Tutorials / Other): 30 / 30 / 0
Lecturer: dr hab. Joanna Mąkol, prof. nadzw.
Language of instruction: Polish

Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student knows the backgrounds of systematics and classification of selected groups of Protista and of invertebrate animals, origin of Metazoa and phylogenetic relationships between the major animal taxa; describes the external and internal morphology and life functions of organisms; understands the increasing complexity of animal structure, resulting from the sequence of evolutionary events; knows the regulations concerning the protection of animals in Poland; knows the methods of collecting, preservation and labeling of invertebrates; describes the taxa of economic importance; knows the principles of fornsic acaro-entomology. Skills: Student operates the light– and stereomicroscopes; safely deals with the preserved material (invertebrate animals); carries out, under close supervision and direction, basic research tasks; identifies the representatives of particular classes of animals and – in case of native fauna – the representatives of orders (or lower taxonomic categories, as far as protected taxa and taxa of economic importance are concerned); can select the adequate study techniques (methods of collecting, preservation, dissection, observation and identification) applied in relation to various groups of organisms; is able to analyze the potential threat and to indicate critical check-points at each phase of food processing; applies the methods of analysis and evaluation of raw materials, animal products and fodder s able to estimate the condition of agricultural environment as well as of animals in terms related to food safety.

Competences: Student is aware of the collective responsibility for fulfilling the tasks assigned to the team; is responsible for the equipment he/she was entrusted with.

Prerequisites:
