Learning outcomes: Knowledge: The student has a general knowledge of mathematics and elementary statistics. Skills: the student has the ability to find, understand, analyze and use the information from breeding documentation; the student applies basic computer technologies used in the acquisition and processing of information in the field of livestock production; the student performs under the guidance of a tutor simple research tasks or projects related to agriculture, interprets the results and draws conclusions; the student demonstrates knowledge of methods of genetic evaluation of livestock.

Competences: The student is aware of the need for self-education in animal breeding.

Course content: Data bases, the SAS package, major gene detection, conventional and genomic breeding value prediction.

Assessment methods: Assessment of computer labs: During the semester there are two written tests and a project. Attendance at the computer lab is mandatory. The student can have only one unexcused absence. The final assessment of the computer lab is done based on tests and the project. The assessment is also affected by the activity of students during the lab. Completion of the course: Students holding a positive credit for a computer lab automatically receive the credit for the course.
