Learning outcomes: Knowledge: The student knows the construction of solar panels, photovoltaic cells and heat pumps; under-stands the principle of operation of the solar, heat pump and geothermal installations; knows the principles of the design of solar and geothermal installations; understands the impact of the use of renewable energy installations on reducing of the consumption conventional energy. Abilities: The student is able to design the installation of solar panels; can conduct analysis of energy for the installation of solar panels and heat pumps; is able to design the installation of the heat pump; is able to perform an economic analysis of the profitability of the application of solar panels with heat pump in housing; is able to conduct a computer simulations of the energy equation for the whole solar installation.

Competences: The student shows understanding of the importance of using renewable energy systems in terms of reducing of conventional energy consumption; understands the ecological importance of renewable energy for society.

Prerequisites: Fluid Mechanics, Water supply and sewerage

Course content: Basic concepts of photothermal conversion of solar energy. Resources of solar and geothermal energy in Poland. Photovoltaic cells. Construction, materials and operation of solar panels and heat pumps. Maintenance, construction and operation of the solar, heat pump and geothermal installations. Operational and economic efficiency of the solar, heat pump and geothermal systems.

Assessment methods: score of three projects, written exam
