Learning outcomes: Students have a basic knowledge on the relations between crops and agriculture managements. They have both theoretical and practical knowledge that enables them to identify causes and size of damage caused by weather conditions and animals on different stages of crop production. Students are familiar with agricultural practice in unfavorable environmental conditions. They are also familiar with pro-ecological crop managements. Students are able to identify crop species at different growth stages and to evaluate risks and effects of crop management. They evaluate crops’ health and development according to crop management conditions.

Competences: Students understand the phenomena occurring between crops, environment and human settlement. They understand the need of constant professional mustering. They follow the occupational safety and health regulations while performing crop treatments. They are responsible for the loaned equipment.

Prerequisites: Botany

Course content: Effect of environmental and crop management factors on crops’ physiological processes. Environment protection. Crop damage characteristics caused by weather, animals or faulty crop treatments. Crop health evaluation depending on environmental conditions. Legal regulations for crop production insurance in case of damage caused by extreme and sudden change of weather conditions.

Assessment methods: Evaluation of knowledge: final test covering obligatory reading for lectures and seminars. Skills evaluation: completion of a project work Evaluation of social competence: evaluation of the students’ individual and team work, and their active participation at seminars.
