Learning outcomes: The student has a basic knowledge of methods of regulating the size of weeds, diseases and pests used in agricultural crops, orchards, permanent pasture and in urban areas. He knows the scope, tasks these methods and their impact on the environment. Acquires the ability to select the available methods in regulating the number of pests in agroecosystems and in urban areas. Is able to plan effective protection of plants against weeds without endangering crops for economic losses. He sees the effects of plant protection products on the environment; planning treatments with plant protection products eliminates or significantly reduces the risk of their use.

Competences: The student demonstrates understanding of the need to select and use different methods to regulate the number of pests. It uses this knowledge to promote other non-chemical methods to reduce weeds, diseases and pests. It is aware of the need for education and self-improvement in methods of plant protection.

Prerequisites: Basics of plant production, diagnostics weeds in a variety of habitats, plant physiology, entomology, pathology and mycology, plant protection products.

Course content: Prevention in plant protection. Treatments agronomic and mechanical, biological, culture, physical in regulating the number of pests. Rules for the use of herbicides. The possibility of combining different methods of pest control (integrated method).
