Learning outcomes: Student after completing the course should be familiar with multiannual native herbaceous and acclimated plants; be able to determine their fundamental structure features, requirements and use possibilities; practically use the acquired knowledge of the morphology and ecology of perennials. He should know what dependencies exist between the world of plants and animals.

Competences:

Prerequisites: Preceding subjects: botany.

Course content: Theoretical basis of the morphology of herbaceous plants. The classification of herbaceous plants (annual, biennial, multiannual). Systematics of herbaceous plants. Overview of selected families of herbaceous plants (characteristics - biology and ecology). Systematics of herbaceous plants. Overview of selected families of herbaceous plants (characteristics - biology and ecology). Characteristic of herbaceous plant of water and wetland communities. Fauna - Amphibians and reptiles. Mountain vegetation. Review of perennials under legal protection. Creeping and ground cover perennials - morphology and ecology. Plastic properties. The perennial compositions in the green setups (parks, gardens). The possibilities of using of the perennial composition in urban green areas. Useful perennials. The biocoenotic value of perennials (herbaceous plants – insects). The use of perennials in the garden setups (colors in the garden: white garden red garden, dotted and striped garden, blue garden, orange garden, pink garden, silver garden, yellow garden, the known and less known selected projects). Herbaceous plants in the art (garden of Claude Monet, Van Gogh's garden, nature in painting, old gardens in painting). Herbaceous plants in the garden art. Useful insects and insect protection.
