The course taught in English if the group has ≥6 students. The course taught in Polish with a possibility of support in English if the group has <6 students.

Learning outcomes: Knowledge The student is conscious of meaning of concrete as a structural material in life of modern societies. Student owned the knowledge about production and properties of cement, aggregates, mortars, concrete mixture and concrete. Student understands phenomenon of setting and transformations of materials during technological operations and maturation of final products. Student knows basic methods of investigation and criteria of quality inspection of components and products in the production process of concrete. Student realizes relations among properties of components, their composition and conditions of environment during production, maturation and exploitation. Student knows methods and principles of concreting works. Student knows methods of nondestructive testing of concrete in existing structures. Student comprehends the differences between the in-situ cast and precast concrete technology. Skills Student is able to determine the characteristics of concrete components and to estimate their quality in aspect of technological applicability. Student can calculate and experimentally verify the recipe of concrete mix or cement mortar according to given conditions of realization. Student can qualify the class of concrete on basis of destructive and nondestructive investigation of sample strength. Student is able to plan the sequence of operational tasks, assort proper means of mixing, transport, compaction of concrete mix and curing of fresh concrete. Student adapts proposed means to projected characteristics of concrete mix, working environment, type of structure and operating conditions.

Competences: Student is aware of the type and scope of hazards resulting from cement and concrete industry to environment and its sustainability.

Prerequisites: Building materials, Building chemistry.
