Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student: W1 – knows functioning of different organisms [KB2_W04]; W2 –knows ecological conditions of biodiversity [KB2-W03_BŚ]; W3 –knows what are the main threats to biodiversity and how the threats could be limited [KB2_W05]; W4 – student is able to create interesting multimedia presentation [KB2_W01]. Skills: Student: U1 – is able to carries out field research and to prepare proper documentation of it [KB2_U01]; U2 – is able to prepare interesting multimedia presentation using Polish and foreign language sources of information [KB2_U05]; U3 – is able to do critical analysis and selection of information, especially from electronic sources [KB2_U04_BT].

Competences: Personal and social competences (attitudes and behaviors): Student: K1 – is aware of responsibility of team members and organize fieldwork [KB2_K02]; K2– promotes care for future of environmental [KB2_K04].

Prerequisites: molecular genetics, population genetics, plant and animal systematics, ecology

Course content: category of biodiversity: (1) genetic biodiversity, (2) species biodiversity, (3) phyletic biodiversity, (4) functional biodiversity, (5) biodiversity of groups of organisms (6) biodiversity of habitats, methods for assessing biodiversity, species index diversity, Simpson index, Shannon index.

Narodowa Fundacja Ochrony Środowiska, Warszawa, 2003; 3. Kaczmarek S.: Krajobraz i bioróżnorodność. Uniwersytet Kazimierza Wielkiego, Bydgoszcz, 2008.

Assessment methods: Zaliczenie ćwiczeń: Przygotowanie prezentacji multimedialnej na zadany temat i przedstawienie jej na ćwiczeniach. Wykonanie sprawozdania z wyjazdu terenowego. Obecność na ćwiczeniach jest obowiązkowa; student może mieć tylko jedną nieusprawiedliwioną nieobecność. Zaliczenie ćwiczeń na podstawie średniej ocen. Zaliczenie przedmiotu: zaliczenie ćwiczeń jest równoznaczne z zaliczeniem przedmiotu.
