Learning outcomes: Knowledge Student knows the energetics development trends, civilization hazards arising from energy shortage; knows the environmental hazards associated with energy production; has knowledge about the basics of energy production from renewable sources and technological progress associated with the production of renewable energy. Skills Student is able to appreciate the importance of energy in the development of civilization and to assess conditions of development of domestic of renewable energy sources; is able to estimate the demand the building's energy; proposes the possibility of producing of renewable energy sources.

Competences: Demonstrates understanding of the environmental risks associated with energy production.

Prerequisites: meteorology and hydrology, chemistry, law

Course content: Introduction. Natural fuels, resources, consumption forecasts. Trends the development of energetics. Characteristics of the environmental impact. Cooling circuits. Emissions of greenhouse gases. Renewable energy sources in the action plans: the world, the EU and Poland. Water power and conditions of use. Wind power and conditions of use. Geothermal energy and conditions of use. Solar radiation energy and conditions of use. Heat pumps. Photovoltaic cells. Biomass. Biogas. Fuel cells. Saving energy. Hydrogen as fuel the XXI century.

Recommended literature: Wprowadzenie. Paliwa naturalne, zasoby, prognozy zużycia. Trendy rozwoju energetyki zawodowej. Charakterystyka oddziaływania na środowisko. Obiegi chłodzące. Emisja gazów cieplarnianych. Odnawialne źródła energii w planach działania: świat, UE i Polska. Energia wody i warunki wykorzystania. Energia wiatru i warunki wykorzystania. Energia geotermalna i warunki wykorzystania. Energia promieniowania słonecznego i warunki wykorzystania. Pompy ciepła. Ogniwa fotowoltaniczne. Biomasa. Biogaz. Ogniwa paliwowe. Oszczędzanie energii. Wodór jako paliwo XXI wieku.

Assessment methods: submission of project, 2 tests, written exam
