Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student defines the basic concepts of food law. Identifies and describes the basic legislation concerning food and nutrition in the European Union and Poland, distinguishes between the types of legislation. He knows the legal basis and requirements for internal and external control of food safety. The student knows the roles and responsibilities of official food control authorities in Poland. Student knows basic documentation relating to the functioning of official food control. Skills: Student is able to present the objectives and content of the basic laws relating to food, uses the selected legislative acts in order to solve the fundamental problems in food technology. Student is able to interpret the provisions of food law. Implement and apply the acts of food law in practice. Student at law specifies the requirements for food hygiene and food safety.

Competences: Student is aware of the importance of the role of food legislation in maintaining food safety, ensure compliance with food law and is sensitive to violations of professional ethics. Follow the food law. It is capable and willing to cooperate in order to ensure compliance with the law in their environment. He is aware of its powers, open and creative. Take action to defend the weak and the socially awkward.

Prerequisites:

Course content: Basics and history of food legislation in the European Union and Poland. Principles of food law in Europe and Poland. Codex Alimentarius as a set of guidelines for creating laws in Europe. Framework Regulation of the European Parliament and Council 178/2002, selected EU regulation on food. Law of. 08.25.2006 on food and nutrition safety regulations and acts on selected issues related to food. Legislation to implement quality assurance systems and food safety. Legislation defining the objectives, tasks, and competencies of official food control in Poland.
