Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student points out economic problems which are solvable using econometric models. Student recognizes basic descriptions of a production, costs and profits. Skills: Student describes a simple economical situations sing a mathematical model. Student determines conditions of market balance. Student analyzes the cost function and the production function. Student is able to illustrate economics optimizing problems using a mathematical model. Student solves optimizing problem. Student makes a simple economical analysis using mathematical models, which aid a decision process in a company.

Competences: Personal and social competences: Student discusses and asseses ideas of members of group. Student is able to work in group. Student understands significance of economical research for control of economics in the world.

Prerequisites: Mathematics, mathematical statistics, econometrics

Course content: Construction of an econometric model (choice of variables, analytical form, estimation of parameters), demand, supply, analysis of balance, production functions (linear, Cobba-Douglas, CES), cost functions, distributions of incomes (normal, log-normal, Pareto).
