Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student defines the basic concepts of organic chemistry - knows what it is distillation, crystallization, extraction and chromatography - explains the formation of organic compounds containing common functional groups and their reactions - understands the concept of aromaticity and mesomerism - recognizes and provides for the existence of conformational, structural and stereoisomerism – calls the common organic compounds - describes the basic mechanisms of addition, substitution and elimination. Skills: Student practices the principles of work in the synthetic organic chemistry laboratory – can assembly glass apparatuses and use them - knows how to prepare a workplace - knows how to use the reaction mechanisms in order to identify factors that may have influence on the reaction course - interprets simple 1H NMR and IR spectra - shows understanding of selected processes occurring in the nature.

Competences: Student shows appropriate respect and care for the entrusted equipment- has responsibility for the security of their own and others - works effectively in a team according to the given instructions - shows awareness of the risks of working with hazardous substances.
