Learning outcomes: Knowledge W1 – knows fundamentals of simulations and modeling [BI2_W11_BP] W2 – knows practcial and theoretical constrains of models of natural phenomena zna ograniczenia teoretyczne i praktyczne ograniczenia modeli zjawisk biologicznych [BI2_W12_BP, BI2_W14_BP] W3 - ma wiedzę dotyczącą podstawowych typów modeli stosowanych w analizie systemów złożonych [BI2_W10_BP, BI2_W13_BP] Skills U1 – is able to construct a model of a simple biological phenomenon [BI2_U14] U2 – is able to create a simulator of a simple biological phenomenon using mathematical packages [BI2_U11_BP, BI2_U12_BP] U3 – can express a biological, scientific in a mathematical language [BI2_U14] Personal and social competeces (attitudes) K1– is able to present a biological problem to scientists from other fields

Competences:

Prerequisites: Basic calculus, probability, mathematical analysis and programming

Course content: Models of complex systems; probabilistic models; dependencies between parameters; constrains of modeling and simulations; typical mistakes in modeling; fundamentals of queue theory and graph theory; epidemic and branching processes; percolations; computer mathematical tools for modeling.
