Learning outcomes: Knowledge: W1 - student knows methods of molecular biology techniques used in various disciplines of human biology [BC1_W05] W2 - student understands wide interdisciplinary molecular biology and formulates relationships between theoretical assumptions of molecular biology methods and their practical use [BC1_W06, BC1_W09] W3 - student is able to compare and contrast the difference between nuclear and mitochondrial genomes of different species of animals and plants as well as knows the methods of mapping and sequencing genomes [BC1_W06, BC1_W09] Skills: U1 - student have skills in the use of basic techniques and methods of molecular biology and analyzes and interprets the results from different methods of molecular biology [BC1_U08] U2 - student can use the selected genomic sequence databases and knows how to analyze the differences in the construction of simple genomes and determine the functions of individual elements that build them [BC1_U04, BC1_U08] U3 - student has the ability to prepare project [BC1_U18]

Competences:

Prerequisites: Genetics, Cell biology and animals histology

Course content: introduction tothe structural and functional genomics, phylogenetics and molecular evolution, molecular cloning and transgenization techniques, genotherapy, anatomy of genomes, the comparative analysis and phylogeny of genomes, the functioning of genomes, the mechanisms of evolution of genomes, the construction of the human genome.
