Learning outcomes: Knowledge: student compares and analyzes the differences between nuclear and mitochondrial genomes of different species of animals and plants; student uses differences in the various parts of the genome in comparative studies and uses them to develop ways of evolution of genomes; student is able to distinguish the functions of genes and noncoding regions of DNA. Skills: student can make a comparative analysis of selected fragments of the genomes of different methods; analyzes and interprets the results of comparisons of different genomes and their fragments.

Competences: Personal and social competences (attitudes and behaviors): student is aware of the responsibility for the tasks commonly performed in the band.

Prerequisites: cell biology, genetics, molecular biology

Course content: Genome anatomy, comparative analysis and phylogeny of the genomes, the functioning of genomes, the mechanisms of genome evolution, the construction of the human genome.

Assessment methods: Assessment of exercise: The presence on the exercises is obligatory, the student may have only one unauthorized absence. In the case of excused absences the student is required to pass the relevant part of the material. Completion of the course: students apply course credits consisting of the execution of the project containing the elements made during exercise and requires interpretation of the results and help reach their conclusions.
