Learning outcomes: The assumed effect of the course is to provide a skill of work with the standard tools of MS Office suite in order to: a). properly write and format the text in Word editor, b). execute calculations, including those which deal with the mathematical statistics, and to present the results with the adequate graphs in Excel, c). create and make use of data bases – Access, d). prepare multimedia presentations – Power Point as well as graphic software and simple text editors which allow to create HTML documents
Competences: The acquired competences will allow students to apply the computer techniques in further education and in future work at a level which enables to get the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL).
Prerequisites: an ability to work with the personal computer connected to the internet.
Course content: history of computer science, computer operation systems, Windows operation system, coding the diacritical marks, tools of MS Office suite, computer graphics, internet tools – electronic mail, Web browsers, FTP services and Telnet.
Recommended literature: manual from the rich collection of manuals concerning the Windows operation systems: 95, 98, Me, 2000, XP, Vista, and MS Office suite: 97, 2000, XP, 2003, 2007.
Assessment methods: obligatory grade on completion of practical training
