Learning outcomes: The student has knowledge about the methods of obtaining, storing and processing of digital images. He knows the basics of digital image processing methods used in geodesy, photogrammetry and remote sensing. Has a general theoretical knowledge about the methods of probabilistic and artificial intelligence applied to the classification of the content of digital images. Student can perform advanced transformation of digital images based on the tools available in the software packages used in photogrammetry, remote sensing, surveying and mapping. Can implement the basic algorithms for processing of digital images.

Competences: Student can recognizes the importance of digital image processing methods in the field of geodesy, photogrammetry and remote sensing. Students can work both individual and in teams using the available knowledge and applications resources.

Prerequisites:

Course content: The course covers four modules to work individually and in teams: Module 1 .: The structure and characteristics of digital images Module 2 .: The transformation of digital images Module 3 .: Image classification and recognition. Module 4 .: Selected special methods of analysis and transformation of the images used in photogrammetry and remote sensing Introduction into registration and storage methods of digital images. Independent implementation of basic algorithms for processing of raster images. Classification of content imaging using statistical methods. Elements of the advanced methods of image processing used in photogrammetric and remote sensing.
