Learning outcomes: The student has knowledge of environmental management in organizations The student knows what are the obligations of companies that make a direct use of the environment The student knows environmental management ISO 14001 standards and the EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) Skills The student is able to prepare enterprise environmental review and identify the significant environmental aspects. The student can define the scope of duties and legal requirements concerning the environment for companies The student knows how to develop the main components of documentation in accordance with the requirements of the EMAS

Prerequisites: -

Course content: The course concerns the environmental management systems in organizations. The contents of the course include the problems of environmental conditions and barriers to socio-economic development. Detailed curricula relate to the legal obligations of companies that make a direct use of the environment, creating environmental policy and programming of corrective actions. Environmental degradation as a barrier to social and economic development. Environmental factors of quality of human life. The concept of sustainable development. Legal, organizational, economic and social aspects of environmental protection. Modern environmental management system and its organization. The costs of using the environment. Environmental Valuation and the valuation of environmental losses. The economic use of the environment and obligations for traders. Modern environmental policy and instruments of its implementation. To prevent damage to the environment. Environmental management tools in the enterprise. Strategy "Cleaner Production". Environmental management according to ISO 14001. EU Eco-Management and Audit EMAS. Greening shaping the product. Best practices.

Assessment methods: Reporting/ Presentation Assessment of tutorial (EMAS project, presentation LCA), oral exam. The final score consist of score from classes (50%) and lecture (50%).
