Learning outcomes: The student after completion of the course : – knows the basic forms and rules for the protection of cultural heritage and the methods used in the process of protection. – acquires data for the historic building from relevant sources; – carry out basic studies and analyzes (including evaluation of environmental resources) appropriate to the specifics of the design task completed applications; – prepare the project documentation restoration / regeneration in accordance with the principles of conservation and restoration, and with the protection of the environment and the law.

Competences: Student is aware of the importance of cultural heritage, its values and the need for protection.

Prerequisites: hand drawing, basic design

Course content: Student during the course meets the basic methods and techniques of studies and analyses relevant to the establishment of guidelines to design the grounds and buildings of landscape architecture; acquires elementary knowledge of the forms of protection of historic buildings present in the landscape and the methods used in the process of protection and meets the selected laws and regulations relating to the design of historical buildings. Class’s task relies on making the exercise design selected of architectural and landscape object of the historical values according to the recommendations given in the classroom and the presentation of 2 multimedia presentations. Principles of conservation protection. Design of maintenance, restoration and revitalization of historic architectural and landscape objects, garden or landscape. The specificity of conservation works in historical objects. Preservation services. Legal conditions for protection of historic objects of garden and landscape. Method conducts conservation - the principles and methods of implementation. Protection zones. Contemporary trends conservation. Adaptation assumptions architectural landscape for contemporary needs.
