Learning outcomes: Student: -know basic techniques of visualization of the ideas and projects of landscape architecture. -has detailed knowledge concerning developmental trends in field of landscape architecture and some related fields. -is able to use advanced skills of visual presentation of the projects and the ideas using selected techniques

Competences: Student is aware of professional meaning of communication with the customer, notices the need for accessible visualizing ideas and projects. Student is able to understand the meaning of the matter of detailed technical issues in designing of the landscape architecture objects.

Prerequisites: Preceding subjects: information technologies, CAD, architectural drawing

Course content: The student after completing the course should acquire skills in the Autodesk 3d Studio Max for the stage of creation of three dimensional drawings including modeling, materials, texturing to the stage of creating and light settings for commercial projects of visualizations of the landscape architecture objects in communication with client. Practical and theoretical classes. Introduction to the Autodesk 3D Studio Max and the user interface. Software environment characteristic. User's settings, navigation and user's tools. Working with files and objects inside the 3DS Max. Working with layers. Import and export of files from the AutoCAD and additional software. Real world measurements issues base on reference sources. Basics of modeling related to the landscape architecture details (shade structures, benches, railings, stairs, etc.). Basic modifications of the 3D objects. Terrain modeling. Material edition and custom shaders settings. Creating of materials, textures and UVW mapping. Lightning types and sources. Preparing cameras in scenes to maximize final scenarios. Rendering settings for landscape exteriors in the Mental Ray module. Techniques used in production and post-production.

Assessment methods: Written examination Evaluation of the semester designs. Talking during comprehensive consultations period.
