The course taught in English if the group has ≥6 students. The course taught in Polish with a possibility of support in English if the group has <6 students.

Learning outcomes: Student is conscious of the meaning of concrete as a structural material in life of modern societies. Student owned the knowledge about production and proprieties of cement, aggregates, mortars, concrete mixture and the concrete. Student knows methods and principles of concreting works in accordance with its economic aspects. Skills Student is able to determine the characteristics of concrete components and to estimate their quality in aspect of technological applicability. Student can calculate and experimentally verify the recipe of concrete mix or cement mortar according to given conditions of realization. Student is able to plan the sequence of operational tasks, assort proper means of mixing, transport, compaction of concrete mix and curing of fresh concrete. Student adapts proposed means to projected characteristics of concrete mix, working environment, type of structure and operating conditions.

Competences: Student is aware of the type and scope of hazards resulting from cement and concrete industry to environment and its sustainability.

Prerequisites: Building Materials, Building Chemistry.

Course content: The course provides fundamental knowledge on the technology of concrete, in details on methods of testing and quality evaluation of components and additives, fresh concrete mix, hardened plain and reinforced concrete. The information on technology of in-situ and pre-cast concrete works is also given. Binders, hydraulic additives, mineral fillers, chemical admixtures. Cements: production, types, properties and range of application. Cement paste, hydration process, setting phenomena. Water. Aggregates. Design and proportioning of concrete mix and cement mortar. Technological characteristic of concrete mix. Precast technology of production of concrete elements. Technology of concrete works. Production quality control of concrete mix.
