Learning outcomes: The aim of the course is to acquaint students with systematic, biology and the significance of animal organisms that settle fresh waters in Poland. The course includes basic information about taxonomy of aquatic animals, methods of taking samples. It also acquaint students with practical skills of recognizing and describing aquatic fauna. The subject encompass the basis of animal ecology in rivers and lakes, including problems connected with pollution of aquatic environment and necessity of protection of some aquatic animals.

Competences: After completing the course students will be able to analyze Polish fresh-water fauna and will know the conditions of living of water animals, their gatherings and main representatives.

Prerequisites: Zoology

Course content: Systematics, biology and meaning of animal peopling inland water of Poland. Program contains basic information about taxonomy of water animals, methods of samples taking to investigations, it teaches skills of recognizing and describing of water fauna. Object hugs bases of ecological life of animals in flowing and standing waters, present connected problems with dirt of water environment and necessity of protection of some species of water animals.
