Learning outcomes: Student -knows the basic measure of water and wastewater pollution; knows the operation and performance of equipment for water and wastewater purification; -knows methods of water and wastewater treatment; knows examples of technological solutions for water and wastewater treatment plants; knows technical and technological Skills Student can describe and match the suitable method and technological equipment for water and wastewater treatment due to the type of contaminants removed from water and sewage; can design selected equipment for treatment of technological wastewater (mechanical and biological stage);

Competences: Demonstrates understanding of importance of advisability of providing purified, high-quality water for coverage needs of the population, industry and services.

Course content: The main aim of the course is to refer the students with the basic measures of water and wastewater pollution, wastewater treatment processes as well as technologies used to achieve the necessary degree of pollution reduction. Technologies of removing dissolved solids, colloids and suspensions from water. Rules for selection of technological systems and devices depending on the composition of the treated water and the requirements for water quality by the public water supply. Quantitative and qualitative characteristics of wastewater. Methods for removal of nutrients from wastewater. Water and wastewater management in industrial plants. Wastewater treatment in conditions close to natural. Sewage sludge management.

Assessment methods: Design exercise and paper work Score of three project, three tests, written exam, passing classes based on the positive scores of completed projects and written tests. In final score 50% is score from exercise and 50% from lectures
