Learning outcomes: After course completion In area of knowledge 1. Student defines the threat to animal health and the causes of disease. 2. Student defines the impact of environmental factors on the health of animals. 3. Student defines the factors influencing animal welfare. This explains the physiological, clinical, and behavioral welfare criteria as well as defines the threat to animal health and the causes of disease. In area of skills 1. Student identifies quality management systems in terms of animal and human health. 2. Student assesses the effect of stress in the animals, types of stress, planning methods to prevent stress in animals. 3. Student explains the rules of the traded in animals and biological materials.

Competences: 1. Student demonstrates interest in a systematic updating of knowledge in biology and related disciplines, consciously understand the need to acquire and completing knowledge throughout life. 2. Student planned research tasks for animals conform to the conditions, laws and opportunities, while maintaining their well-being. 3. Student demonstrates ethical attitude to animals.

Prerequisites: -

Course content: Environmental factors and health status of the animals, the concept of health and disease, welfare, epidemiological and immunological determinants of infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, disease prevention, the concept of animal welfare, physiological, clinical, and behavioral criteria for welfare, veterinary requirements by turning animals and biological materials, ethical and legal aspects of animal experimentation ethics committees, scale invasion, stress, and ways to minimize it.

Assessment methods: Final test in based on material from the lectures and exercises. Lecture includes a closed test (15 questions). Passing concerns the grant of 60% of the correct answers. If the test is not passed in the first term student has the right to re-sit them orally or in writing The lectures are compulsory, the student can have 3 excused absences.
